Request Categories

Request Categories classify service requests by type — for example, Plumbing, Electrical, Lift Maintenance or Cleaning. Assigning a category to a request drives default ownership, routing and reporting, making it easier to manage workload across your team.

Categories can be marked as available in the resident portal so that owners and residents can select them when submitting requests themselves. Sub-categories allow further classification, and custom questions can be added to gather specific information when a request of that category is submitted.

Column Type Description
Name text The name of this request category.
Order number The display order of this category in selection lists.
Offer Externally boolean When enabled, this category is available to residents submitting requests through the resident portal.
Default Owner picklist The default team member assigned as owner when a request of this category is created.
Parent Category picklist The parent category this is a sub-category of, if applicable.
Icon File picklist The name of an image file associated with this category.
User Title longText Internal notes about this category and when it should be used.
Rejection text longText Guidance shown to residents when they select this category in the portal.

Response Type picklist The data type for the answer — e.g. Text, Number, Date, Yes/No.
