Comments

Comments let people discuss a post or a ballot in a thread attached to it. Where comments are enabled, they are visible to everyone who can see the post or ballot.

Whether owners and residents may comment is controlled by the channel configuration. By default, owners and residents cannot comment — comments are most often enabled in the Directors Channel, where directors use them to agree arrangements between meetings.

The person who creates a post or ballot follows it automatically. Anyone who adds a comment also becomes a follower, and followers are notified by email when further comments are added. This keeps the people involved in a discussion up to date without everyone in the channel being notified.

If you enable comments, someone needs to moderate them — keep the discussion on topic and step in if anyone becomes abusive or defamatory. Before turning comments on, we strongly recommend the OMC agree a short content policy describing what is and is not acceptable, and publish it in the Documents section so everyone can see the ground rules.
